White House Down Movie Review

DISCLAIMER:THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE

Overview:

White House Down  is a 2013 action film starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx and is directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012).

Plot:

White House Down follows John Cale (Tatum) as he is at the White House with his daughter when a ploy begins to kidnap the President of the United States, leaving Cale the only person qualified to put an end to the terrorist attack.

Review:

In 2013, Hollywood gave us two different White House terrorism films, Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down. In my opinion White House Down is a better film in every way compared to Olympus

The Good:

The acting in this film is executed very well between Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, making the audience believe that they make a good team fighting for survival. But the biggest surprise for me in this movie was John Cale’s daughter (Joey King). This young actress is only 14 years old, yet she comes off as a legit young actress who can hold her own against terrorists. The cherry on top is definitely the exciting action sequences with the right amount of humor.

The Bad:

Luckily with White House Down there are only two main problems that hindered the movie. The CGI in this film feels like it was created by two different people, one that knows what they’re doing and the other who just couldn’t pull it off. Some of the CGI in this film feels like it came straight out of a video game. The second problem was this movie was just a little too long for the kind of movie this is. It seriously felt like this movie was supposed to end three different times, overstaying its welcome in my living room.

Verdict:

I would recommend buying White House Down on Blu Ray especially if you are a fan of: Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012.

Grade:

 B
